PARALACE Paracord Laces & Belt: FAQ

What is 550 paracord?

550 paracord is a lightweight nylon cord originally used in parachute lines, rated to hold about 550 pounds. Inside the smooth outer sheath are several thinner inner strands you can pull out and use separately, which is what makes it so versatile for the outdoors.

What can I use the paracord for?

Once unraveled, the cord handles countless jobs: lashing together a shelter, replacing a broken strap or lace, rigging a clothesline, securing gear, or, using the inner strands, fishing line, sewing thread, or an emergency tie. It is the kind of thing you rarely plan to need and are very glad to have.

Are the laces and belt good for everyday use?

Yes. The laces are built to outlast ordinary shoelaces in daily wear, and the belt is a universal fit with a solid stainless steel buckle, so both earn their place every day, not just in an emergency. For more ready-for-anything gear, see our survival gear.
